About the Journal

General Information

Published in spring and fall, the journal was launched in fall of 2016 under the name Journal of Nursing & Interprofessional Leadership in Quality & Safety (JoNILQS). In early 2023, the journal was rebranded as Interprofessional QI Reports (IQIR) to include a wider variety of healthcare professionals. The journal highlights small scale quality improvement and safety projects that address specific areas of practice improvement, including administrative, clinical, educational, and other healthcare-related initiatives.

IQIR charges no article processing fees.

IQIR is co-published by The Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library and the University of Utah Department of Pediatrics

Aim & Scope

IQIR is an open-access, peer-reviewed online journal focusing on practical quality improvement initiatives that have the potential to improve patient outcomes over a broad spectrum of healthcare settings. Its target audience and contributors include nurses, physicians, other healthcare professionals, researchers, and administrators concerned with improving healthcare outcomes.

This journal aims to provide a unique focus on small-scale quality improvement and safety initiatives that may serve as models for the large-scale application of similar processes and initiatives. The overall goal of the journal is to share ways to improve outcomes in healthcare systems. There is a strong commitment to and focus on interprofessional initiatives that provide practical, evidenced-based solutions for healthcare issues.

IQIRbecomes the copyright-holder of all submissions accepted for publication. All content is published under a Creative Commons Attribution-Non-Commercial-No Derivatives (CC BY-NC-ND) license. In accordance with the terms of that license and with the Budapest Open Access Initiative’s definition of open access, users have the non-embargoed right to read, download, copy, print, search, distribute, and link to the full text of all articles in this journal, provided the original work is accurately and appropriately cited and a link to the license is provided.
